Patti LaBelle Rocks the White House

Patti LaBelle brought her diva tour-de-force to Washington, D.C. to entertain President Barack Obama and to celebrate an anniversary.

Monday saw LaBelle bringing her soulful voice to entertain the audience who was on hand to celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Americans with Disabilities Act which was singed into law July 26, 1990.

The sun drenched ceremony took place on the White House South Lawn, where President Obama signed an executive order requiring the federal personnel agency to develop guidelines when hiring those with disabilities.

The Justice Department is in the process of publishing new rules that would prohibit discrimination against any persons with disabilities that would cover 80,000 government employees and over 7 million persons in the private sector.

These rules which would go into effect by 2012 would ensure that all new construction would meet higher design standards from that of doors, windows, to elevators and bathrooms. The rules would be enforced everywhere from schools, stores, restaurants to stadiums and hospitals.
