Janelle Monáe, the Grammy Award nominated singer-songwriter, gives us a visual spectacle and shows off her fancy dance moves on her new video.
Monáe, the former student of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, serves up a nonstop dance party on the video for her single “Tightrope,” from her soon to be released album, The Archandroid.
Recently we had the opportunity to catch Monáe perform live while on a trip to San Francisco, at Cafe du Nord. The energy that she displays in the video is the same high energy that she displays while performing live.
The Archandroid, the follow-up to her debut album Metropolis: The Chase Suites, will hit store shelves May 18th, and is the second and third offerings in a four album suite.
The suites follow Monáe’s alter-ego Cindi Mayweather, who is an android, and protagonist of the suites, on her journey through the galactic world who goes on to become a messiah like figure in the community of androids.
Monáe is a great storyteller, who effortlessly transfers her vision from recording studio, to album, to video with a splendid cohesiveness. She has the ability to standout in a business where so many play follow-the-leader. Her artistic style is unique and her creative talents are sure to only grow with her genius.
