The NAACP’s 41st Annual Image Awards takes place this evening and will bestow the Chairman’s Award upon Tyler Perry.
Perry has made significant philanthropic contributions in recent years, as well as a $1 million commitment to the NAACP itself as well as several Atlanta area charities. Perry most recently made a $250,000 contribution to the earthquake relief effort in Haiti.
Anika Noni Rose and Hill Harper will host the event, which will include performances by Keri Hilson, Wyclef Jean, Carlos Santana and John Legend.
Celebrities expected to be at the ceremony include Sandra Bullock, Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, The View’s Sherri Shepherd, Mariah Carey, and Regina King.
Wyclef Jean will receive the Vanguard Award at the ceremony as wel. The ceremony will air on FOX Television Network at 8 p.m. tonight.
